Overview

While AI was still in its early stages and being explored as a tool to integrate within workflows, me and two other designers from Studio Rodrigo collaborated with Google Creative Lab on a design sprint to visualize how AI can act as a collaborative partner in the Google Workspace.

Our Approach

During our process we set up a specific framework to explore how AI could function across a spectrum:

  • Personal vs. Omniscient: How omniscient is the AI assistant? Is it only familiar with my individual work and history, or is it catered to my team and their specific work, or does it have company-wide knowledge?
  • Public vs. Private: What’s the visibility of the AI assistant towards other users?
Is it a tool I can use privately and switch on/off accordingly, or is it known to everyone that I’m using AI as a collaborator?

In a 3-week sprint and with these guiding questions, we designed different use cases around collaboration and presented them back to the Google Creative Lab team.
